It’s Mental Health Awareness Month so many people including me struggle with mental health. Which can cause one to go into depression and isolation. Life can be very overwhelming sometimes, trying to keep a roof over your head, while doing the best you can to stay healthy and also staying away from toxic people and things is very overwhelming. If you are doing your best daily to become a better version of yourself that’s what matters the most.

I’ve spent time and several years dedicated to focusing on my well-being and myself. There is so much going on today that people are now neglecting to take care of their health and well-being. As a black woman in today’s society, we need to be taking care of our health. Did you know that almost 60 % of black women are obese compared to 32 % of other races?
How to Set Healthy Boundaries: Act of Self - Love.
I want to start off saying this may be triggering to some of you as I go into detail about my trauma experience’s. So many people including I have had trouble setting healthy boundaries with people due to a lack of self- love and that is the truth, once you truly love yourself you will no longer put up with less than you deserve even if that means being alone.

Is it just me, or are times really tough right now? I am not where I want to be now; I feel like I am behind in my life, but I know things can change six months from now. Trying to chase a bag just to survive while also trying to take care of my mental and emotional health. while hoping to find a soulmate so I can get married and have kids.

Mental health is something that I take very seriously, I’ve been through some dark times where my mental health was affected the most. As we know mental health doesn’t always have a look someone could be going through things that they don’t speak of.

I am so big on mental health because I know the daily fight can be tough. Mental health is real, and I want you to know that things will get better over time. I have had some days where I wanted to give up, but I also would fight to keep myself going. No matter what my situation looks like, I still try to push through and do the best that I can, and I advise you to do the same! Affirmations and positivity in general are very helpful. If you find yourself having dark, draining thoughts, try and change those thoughts into something positive. Let's talk about some positive affirmations

Some days I can just sit in a funk all day and be completely negative towards myself and life! One of the things I have been working on in my self-healing journey is when I get into this funk, I immediately try to change my thoughts.
To The Struggling 20 Something Year Old.
To my people, who are in their 20s and trying to hold it together, keep staying strong. I'm currently 26 years old, and I feel like life really hit me in my early 20s, and it's still hitting me! Life started to get more difficult over time; I lost friends that I thought would have been in my life forever, I lost family members that were not really for me. I was suffering from the poor financial situation’s I had put myself in in my early 20s; While trying to keep up with my mental health living alone trying to make a way for my future. I grateful to still be here. There were points in my life where I was barley keeping it together.
Practicing Self-Love.
To me, self-love means putting my happiness and well-being first, despite how others may feel. We tend to want to please others in order to make them happy, but what are you doing to make yourself happy? Therapy has taught me the value of loving myself even on my darkest days. I know that I matter; we all do.
